Gulfood Exhibition 2012
Largest Trade Show for Food and Hospitality Industry
Plastico recently exhibited at the Gulfood trade show to dip its toe into the warm International waters of trading in the region.
Gulfood 2012, the world’s largest annual trade show for the food and hospitality industry, it was a record event this year as representatives from more than 3,800 companies from around the world arrive in Dubai to showcase their food and beverage products and services.
The show was sold out in October as exhibitors from around the world look to do business in the fast-growing Middle East, Africa and South Asia (MEASA) region. Covering more than one million square feet of dedicated exhibition space, Gulfood 2012 represents all corners of the globe with four new pavilions Algeria, Hungary, Kenya & Peru joining countries as far afield as Argentina, Australia, China, Chile, France, Hungary, Japan, Kenya, Malaysia, Maldives, Pakistan, South Africa, Switzerland, Turkey, USA and Vietnam and of course the UK.
Culinary skills will also showcased at the prestigious Emirates International Salon Culinaire which, in association with the Emirates Culinary Guild, hosts 1,300 chefs in heated competition before a panel of 25 distinguished international judges.
In amongst this vast array of international interests the Plastico stand attracted a wealth of visitors over the 4 days from as far afield Pakistan, India, Egypt, Angola and Kenya. There was never a dull moment on the stand with enquiries for food presentation products from ice cream makers and bakeries to retail outlets packs and party ware for Royal Princes for BBQ’s in the desert!
The ability as a manufacturer for Plastico to make a range of attractive translucent colours in the Easystyle range and cutlery ranges was of great interest and a growing demand for wooden items for food presentation and the polycarbonate Celebrity glass range for the leisure industry were lines of particular demand. The Export Team took a suitcase of enquiries home to the UK and it was nice for them to return home and have people already emailing for quotes and product.
After enjoying the sun of the Middle East now begins the long task of follow-ups and converting the enquiries!

We are pleased to introduce our new champagne flute to our reusable range of glassware.
Manufactured in virtually unbreakable polycarbonate or reusable polystyrene, it is ideal for the hospitality industry, outdoor entertaining and consumer use. The flute is CE marked and lined at 125ml.
Dishwasher safe up to 100 washes for polystyrene and up to 300 washes for polycarbonate.

Plastico Announcement - May 2011
The New Warehouse and Distribution Centre
We are delighted to announce our acquisition of a new warehouse and distribution centre. Based in Northampton, the site will give Plastico excellent access to all parts of the country and will in many cases enable us to offer a more flexible delivery service.
With close to 60 000ft2 of space, the warehouse is purpose built with sunk docks, multiple loading bays, a good roof height to optimise racking and good access for commercial vehicles. This investment gives us the opportunity to spearhead further expansion and to provide our customers with even higher levels of service and availability.
This is a very exciting development and underlines Plastico’s commitment to future growth and our desire for continuous improvement. We will start moving some of our stock to Northampton from the beginning of May 2011 and will be fully operational by June 1st 2011. Our factory and Head Office will remain at their current location in Mitcham, Surrey. Of course it is a period of change, but we are hoping that some staff will help with the transition or may indeed be able to stay with the business long term.

The New Polycarbonate of Polycarbonate Glassware
Celebrity is a new range of contemporary polycarbonate glassware from Plastico. High quality and crystal clear the tumblers are available in all popular sizes from 9oz to 20oz, the stemmed wine glass is 250ml to line.
Featuring an attractive fluted design the tumblers are scratch resistant, durable and unbreakable, given normal use.
Celebrity glasses are ideal for consumer use or catering, particularly where safety is a prime consideration. Many medical experts and the Police are also advocating the use of polycarbonate tumblers as they eliminate the risk of breakage and injury.

Easystyle Products
Lidded and ready to go!
When Plastico first launched the Easystyle collection it was targeted at retailers, as we had many customers requesting better quality products.
However, it has become increasingly clear that many sectors of the foodservice market are equally interested to have a premium range of co-ordinated tableware.
Caterers do have different requirements and, according to our research, many need to store food in the fridge, or display plates and platters in cold cabinets. For outdoor events, it may also be necessary to collate and deliver food to multiple locations. We have therefore created a range of lids to fit all products.
Manufactured from rPET, they are designed to click on and off very easily which makes it simple for catering staff to collate and pack the food. Each lid also features a recess so that the products can stack, therefore taking up the minimum of space. Lids are sold individually in cases of 100 and are available as stock lines.

Plastico Finalist
Plastico continues to receive recognition for the growth and development of our Export business. In 2007, The French Chamber of Commerce proclaimed us Exporter of the Year for our business to France.
In May 2009, South London Business Awards selected us as a finalist from over 200 applicants for the ‘Best Business In International Trade’.
This underlines the company’s growth and reputation, particularly in Europe, where we work with distributors in all countries.
Sales in Europe have grown 30% in the last 12 months and have doubled since 2006/07. This growth stems from the development of existing accounts, where customers appreciate the quality of service and products we provide. New markets such as Lithuania and Poland have an increasing need for our products.
Of course, credit must also go to our Export team, enthusiastically led by Olivier Chereau. However, behind the scenes there is an important support team, including David Johncock, who has been supervising export dispatches for over 20 years and who seems to have perfect recall of his customer’s requirements.
